I stayed at a friend of a friends house in Missoula who happened to be out of town the weekend I was visiting. I couldn't help but take some photos. She had the most amazing garden that I had the pleasure of watering everyday and just the obvious care and thought that went into her place was so inspiring. A priority for my new place is some type of outdoor space so that I can have a sitting area and some plants and herbs growing.

I love this modern quilt by Carsontoo that I spotted over on sfgirlbybay a while back. It is getting too hot for the down comforter that I typically use so I've been using a quilt that my mom made with her grandma when she was a little girl. You can not imagine how soft and comfortable it is! The only problem is that it is in need of repair - there are rips and missing squares. Anyone have any advice on how to restore an old quilt?

Today a dear friend of mine is deploying to Iraq. Despite what my feelings are towards the wars that we are currently involved in, when i think about the men and women serving our country in these unbearable conditions, living and breathing a nightmare a world away from their loved ones and anything remotely comfortable and secure, my heart is heavy with love and respect. I've spent one year of my life on the waiting end, constantly worrying about the life of someone that i love, holding on to the comfort that a 3am call would give, doing what i could to bring peace and a smile to him from such a great distance, and most likely falling short. I remember what it is like to never have that worry far from your mind and when i think of all of the families and friends of our soldiers still experiencing this on a daily basis, my heart goes out to them. I think it is important for those of us that are safe at home to keep everyone who is dealing with these wars on a daily basis in our hearts and prayers. That the men and women serving our country will have the strength to get through the enormous challenges they are facing and come home in tact - not only their physical body, but perhaps even more importantly, their spirit. It would mean so much to me if you would send a special prayer out to my friend Jeremy and the family he is leaving behind today - his wife Amaya and his daughter, Chaso.

hello! my trip to Costa Rica was exactly what I needed - and then some. i definitely have a new perspective on things, am refreshed and energized and ready to begin again. i have a new group of friends that all live close by and we already have various activities planned that I am really looking forward to. Now it's time to get back to work and make things happen! No more waiting on outside circumstances... though i have to say, hilariously, I did come down with a case of what I'm calling 'jungle fever' so will spend the rest of this week recovering until I get my voice back. :)
