Nothing leaves me feeling quite so inspired as a weekend away. Growing up in California it is a mystery to me why I have never been to the Point Reyes area, but lo and behold, I have not. That is until last weekend. What a perfect place to imagine a simple life in the country...
The weekend was foggy and mysterious (just the kind of weather I miss from growing up on the Northern California coast) and the oh so cozy guest house I found on
vrbo.com was the perfect spot to come home to after our daily adventures. Not to miss (very edited list here) is the Saturday farmers market held at
Toby's Feed Barn, morning coffee and pastries from the
Bovine Bakery (which incidentally serves delicious slices of gourmet pizza as well), Popovers hot from the oven at 5pm sharp at
Station House Cafe (lunch here is also very highly recommended), a stop into
Cowgirl Creamery for gourmet delights and organic cheeses, barbequed oysters from
the Marshall Store, a walk to the
famous lighthouse and anything else involving the fresh, local food and laid back atmosphere. Ok, so there are a lot of amazing beach, hiking, kayaking, biking adventures to be had as well... but they will have to wait until next time.
