project.

I love this bag tutorial from very purple person that I pinned on Pinterest today.  Definitely going to make my way down to the fabric store and sew this baby up for a new summer tote..

DIY project.

How great are these tiny polaroid magnets from Ambrosia Girl? I might make them just a touch larger, but they are sooo adorable. Tutorial here.

INSPIRED BY...

... Sukan, spotted on Etsy.  This might be the happiest pillow I've ever seen and I need one immediately!  I'm inspired to make my own version, which I have just started - will share once it is completed..

EMBROIDERY HOOP ART

1.  CampfireChic
2.  Yolki
3.  Twigs and Lace
4.  Moxidoll

I have fond memories of my Granny teaching me embroidery when I was a little girl and making my own creations as gifts for my mother and grandmothers.  These days there are updated, modern takes on this "sweet" craft.  I love the minimalist/kitschy edge of the ones shown here.

The one thing that has, for whatever reason, stopped me from making/purchasing/displaying embroidery hoop art is the actual hoop.  It just looks unfinished to me, which is why I was so excited to see this tutorial over on Craftster...

Voila!  No more hoop! (let the embroidery begin...)

NEW PROJECT...

How gorgeous is this herringbone cowl spotted over at the Purl Bee? I love this pattern - so timeless and beautiful not to mention incredibly soft and cozy looking.  This is definitely my next knitting project... and should be just the right challenge - I've never used circular knitting needles before.

DIY GIFT WEEK {day 4}

I love this idea - again from Martha Stewart.  I'm not a huge fan of pink so am going to try to find teacups at my local antique store in blues and yellows.  Can't wait to try this one!

DIY GIFT WEEK {day 3}

I've never made a custom photo book online, but have been gifted one a couple of times and these are the sweetest gifts. They are so fun to look through, and something that I know I will keep forever. Plus, the major companies that offer this service are all having HUGE holiday discounts.

Snapfish {25% off}
Shutterfly {Buy 1, Get 50% off additional + free shipping on orders over $25}

Does this count as handmade?  I'm just going to go with it...

DIY GIFT WEEK {day 2}

 TUTORIALS:

I'm a huge fan of magnets, especially when you can personalize them and make them fun and unique.  This is the perfect gift for someone on my list.  I've already bought the supplies and plan to make these today - will post an update.  {via Martha Stewart}

*update* what am I doing wrong?  the sobo glue made pictures pink and blurry...  trying again...

DIY GIFT WEEK {day 1}

Because I have vowed that this holiday season will be a handmade one, I've decided to feature handmade gift ideas that I love everyday this week... So without further ado - here's something I've been dying to make {especially since my skin is seriously protesting this colder weather and in need of some moisture love}.

{photo source: the mother huddle}

The Mother Huddle has a wonderful tutorial on homemade body scrubs that I plan to follow.  There are also a TON of recipes online - below are simply a few that sounded appealing to me.  {I tend to go for natural/organic products} Experiment!  I know I plan to...

RECIPE IDEAS

Finishing touch?  Martha Stewart has some nice clip art labels to personalize the jars.  I might try to conjure up my own.  Will post the finished product when it is completed!
