Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I firmly believe that the message in this poster is fact - I have been working really hard and am ready for the amazing things part! :) So apologies for the light posts this week...

local spotlight

I love seeing a local business whose products I love and philosophy I admire give back.  Through March 24th (yikes! that is tomorrow) Heath Ceramics will be donating 25% of online sales to Architecture for Humanity's relief efforts for Japan.  Amazing.  Not only will you be purchasing a beautiful item that will last you a lifetime, but you will be helping others in the process.

motivation.

This photograph inspires me in so many ways. I suppose I will get out of bed on this stormy day and work out after all........... (and if you are looking for similar inspiration/motivation on a regular basis, check out Because We Can.)

keep on movin'

little flower school.

Oh how I would have loved to be a part of this class taught by the Little Flower School held in Berkeley last week. The combination of two of my most favorite things - flowers + food (Heidi Swanson food no less) - in a perfect setting. Yes, please!

(ok - i will stop re-posting items from every email that I receive from 101 Cookbooks, but it is going to be a challenge as they fill me with such inspiration!  Head over there and sign yourself up so you get them firsthand!)

a poem a day.

Yesterday I tried to meditate

Yesterday I tried
to meditate
and instead of god
I was visited by
a marketing plan for
vegan eight-layer dip.
I could have felt exhausted
by my mind’s insolence.
But I decided
to heck with it
maybe I’ve let my assumptions
about meditation
crowd out the thing itself.
Maybe I’ve piled on
expectations like moss
and the truth
has gone stagnant.
Maybe I need to unpeel
my beliefs from my experiences
and let them both run naked
for a while.
So today I turned it over
to Fats Waller and let him swing
my thoughts around
eyes wide open
and I can’t say for sure
but I think that was god in the corner
doing a double-shag.

Awesome poetry over at bentlily - a poem a day for a year to be exact.  I discovered this gem in my inbox this morning via whitehot truth .  Have officially joined the bentlily mailing list so that I might have one of these goodies in my inbox every morning...

HAVE A HAPPY WEEKEND!

{image via * 7 fevrier}

I do realize it is only Thursday, but I am catering a retreat over at the Stillheart Institute all weekend long. I was able to take a tour of the property earlier this week and if you are ever leading a workshop/retreat in the bay area I can't recommend this place enough. Completely remodeled in 2009, it is gorgeous and well-maintained with an extremely friendly staff. So excited about this weekend and this new venture that I am starting with 2 other friends. Will share the details soon!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and get to spend some time in a beautiful setting!

pretty things.

I think I will try this hair tutorial spotted over on A Cup of Jo.  So pretty... and the perfect thing for catering this weekend....

pretty package

I was so inspired by Heidi Swanson's latest post that I had to share - though this time it is not one of her delicious recipes but a pretty package of postcards she has been assembling.  She is coming out with a new cookbook and is putting together these packets for people that attend book signings, etc.

Aren't they beautiful?  I'm so inspired that I'm making a stop in Japantown today for some of my own pretty paper tape.  Will take a picture of the goods and share tomorrow...  For now, simply enjoy the eye candy (her photography is gorgeous) and head on over to 101cookbooks for some truly inspired recipes.

JAPAN.

I feel the disaster in Japan in my heart and in my soul. We all do. When something this catastrophic happens, it doesn't matter where on the planet the disaster takes place because we are all connected.

My friend Elaine is a brilliant writer and has a wonderful blog post relating to this event titled 'Donating in Times of Disaster: Six Things You Need to Know'.  If you are interested, I encourage you to head on over and check it out.

FACT.

The plain fact is that the planet does not need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these qualities have little to do with success as our culture has defined it.

HAVE A HAPPY WEEKEND!

hope you have a wonderful weekend and a chance to do something you love! I'll be working on various projects for most of it, but will definitely be mixing in some baking and yoga... xo

GET TO WORK.

MUST BAKE II.

I posted about a lemon pull apart bread here... Now that I see this cinnamon-sugar version I'm not sure which one to make first. You really must go to the source and look at all of the photos... YUM!

CURRENTLY COVETING...

Just browsing the new issue of Lonny Magazine and came across this beautiful bedding by Dwell Studio {available over at Velocity Art and Design}.  I'm in love.  I want it.  I need it.  I won't feel complete until I have it.  I would like to say that I am being a little dramatic here, but unfortunately this is exactly how I feel right this second!

HAPPY THINGS.

I love these vintage tin can gardens that I am seeing everywhere. They are so festive and pretty  - I just had to add my own little collection of favorites to the blogosphere. I'm going to start checking in the local antique store for some tins to experiment with...

UNEXPECTED VISITORS.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT

I want to preface this post by letting you know that I have never actually been to Church Street Flowers. That being said, I have received absolutely stunning bouquets from them on a few separate occasions as well as experienced their extremely friendly customer service.  Peonies are my all time favorite flower and were included in these bouquets, but there were also the most unique blooms and additions that I have ever seen. I actually sat and photographed each bouquet from a million different angles to try and capture their beauty (first time doing this with any floral arrangement might I add). So, if you are looking to make someone feel special - or just want to pick up a visual treat for yourself - I can not recommend Church Street Flowers enough. They are now my go-to florist in San Francisco and I hope to work with them on events in the future...

I love these vaulted ceilings and the open bedroom/bath. So pretty and cozy...  Photo via Gardener & Marks - an interior decoration firm co. in Melbourne - found via SFGirlByBay.

MOVING MOUNTAINS.

{I was emailed this quote a short time ago along with the words "women can be so powerful when we choose..." (thank you Tiffany!) I found these words to be unbelievably beautiful and this quote just resonated with me.  I've been waiting for the perfect image to pair it with and was excited to find this one over at yum & yuk this weekend.  I believe the photo is by Marina Sorokina (as per the stamp on the image).}

STYLE AT HOME.

This weekend I spent some time on the Style at Home website. I found so much interior inspiration - all very simple and pretty, which is just what I like. I'd be more than happy to use some of these rooms as a jumping off point (ha!) and add items and artwork to make them my own.  I'm thinking about getting a subscription to the magazine (a Canadian publication)... Do any of you subscribe?
